The poll widget shows the poll you run on Twitch. Start a poll, and it shows up on your overlay with the question, every choice and a countdown. Votes come in live, and when the poll closes the winner lights up. A few seconds later the widget gets out of the way until your next poll.

Add it

In the overlay editor, open Widgets → Polls and add Poll.

Starting polls

Polls live on Twitch. Start one from Stream Manager or with /poll in your chat. Start a poll on Twitch in the widget settings takes you to Stream Manager. The widget picks up the poll on its own, and if you refresh your overlay mid-poll, it comes back with the current votes. When no poll is running, the widget shows nothing on stream. In the editor it tells you so. If the settings show a Connect Twitch button, StreamWizard can’t read your polls yet. One trip to Twitch and you’re set.

Designs

Pick a look under Design. Switching resizes the box to fit.

When the poll closes

The winning choice lights up and the others fade back. On a tie, every tied choice lights up. The result stays up for as long as Show the result for says (10 seconds by default), then the widget hides.

See it before you go live

The widget settings have four test buttons: Start, Votes, Close race and End. The same four sit in the Poll row of the editor’s Demo bar. To watch polls come and go, press Poll under Simulate in the Demo bar: it runs a 20-second poll, closes it with a winner, pauses, and starts the next one until you press it again. They play a fake poll on the canvas, or on your live overlay when the demo bar is set to Live. After a test, Back to your Twitch poll puts the real one back. A Live test on your stream clears itself after 15 seconds.

Settings

  • Title: leave it empty to use your poll’s question from Twitch, or type your own.
  • Show the result for: how long the winner stays up after the poll closes, from 3 to 60 seconds.
  • Show: title, percentage, vote count and countdown.
  • Colors: a color for each choice, or Leader only to color just the choice in the lead and keep the rest muted. Also the track, the text and corner radius.
  • Text: font, weight, size, and a shadow that keeps it readable over bright games.
  • Motion:
    • Flash on votes: a short flash on a choice every time it gets votes.
    • When the poll closes: a glow, confetti, or nothing. A tie gets no celebration.
    • Poll starts and Poll hides: fade, slide, pop or shrink.
If reduced motion is switched on in the system settings of the computer running OBS, the widget plays it still: no confetti or flashes, and bars jump straight to the new numbers.
